Sekali lagi ada Netflix ngeluarin konten yang bener-bener top dah. DocuSeries tentang perjalanan manajemen Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan (MJ), Scottie Pippen, Phil Jackson dll ketika mengejar gelar NBA ke-6 mereka dalam 8 musim terakhir.
Dari luar kita selalu melihat bahwa tim basket ini bener-bener yg terbaik, solid & hampir semua individunya menyabet gelar yg terbaik (dari manajemen, pemain hingga pelatih). Komisioner NBA David Stern sampai bilang, ini adalah team terbaik abad itu yg akan menjadi kadidat juara dalam bbrp tahun kedepan.
But ketika DocuSeries ini muncul, kita jadi tahu betapa bobroknya Chicago Bulls ketika dilihat dari perspektif lain. Bullying, hubungan yg tidak sehat antara manajemen-pemain/pelatih, depresi, perasaan tidak dihargai dll. So after all, ada beberapa pelajaran yg bisa kita petik dari 2 episode awal ini :
- Jangan membuat keputusan besar saat kamu sedang marah/sedih
- Yap, Scottie Pippen bener-bener membuat keputusan buruk dgn menanda tangani kontrak selama 7 tahun tersebut. Dia melakukannya ketika keluarganya dalam kondisi down, kemudian nilai kontrak itu terus menurun (inflasi) dan berakhir dgn depresi serta permusuhan dgn GM Krause di akhir kontraknya.
- Tetap berpikir positif, walaupun seluruh lingkunganmu berpikir negatif
- Ketika MJ baru sembuh dari cedera & dia bener-bener jadi bintang utama Chicago Bulls kala itu. Tim dokter mengatakan bahwa MJ gak boleh main dulu karena punya resiko 10% utk mengalami cedera lagi. Disinilah winner mentality MJ muncul sekali lagi (di beberapa keliatan banget), dia mengatakan “What? aku punya 90% possibilty utk tidak cedera, tapi kamu hanya berpikir 10% itu.”
- Jangan pernah berpikir untuk bisa menang di hari esok, kalau kamu tidak berusaha habis-habisan untuk menang di hari ini
- Memasuki Q4 pertandingan lawan Milwauke Bucks, Chicago bener-bener terpuruk dgn selisih angka yg cukup masif & di sesi timeout seluruh pemain mengatakan utk melepas pertandingan ini. Tapi MJ menolak itu & tampil mati-matian di Q4 itu yang akhirnya membalikkan keadaan & membawa kemenangan.
- Ada sebuah tujuan yg baik, di balik tindakan yang buruk dari seseorang.
- Jerry Krause (GM Chicago Bulls), bener-bener jadi korban bully ketika masa itu, ketika dia membuat bbrp keputusan yang tidak diterima pemain maupun pelatih Phil Jackson. But Netflix menyuguhkan secara proporsional terkait perannya. Dari sini kita juga sadar bahwa Krause mewakili manajemen utk mempertahankan organisasi kedepannya (gak cuma menang hari ini). MJ pun di akhir wawancara juga sedikit menyadari bahwa yg dilakukan Krause juga alih-alih demi Chicago Bulls sendiri. So, selalu ada tujuan baik di balik semuanya
